After graduating, F.D. Homberg (’54) worked in music evangelism and then went to work as a minister of education. He attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, and then worked at Ft. Walton, Fla. for years before moving back to Alabama. He says that “TKC set the foundation for seminary and my ministerial career. Had I not gone to TKC, my life would have been drastically changed.”

Susan Everett Brewster (’62) writes, “After graduation in 1962 I attended Columbia University School of Nursing for three years, receiving a B.S. degree. Two days later, I started work as a pediatric nurse at Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, N.Y., for the summer. I later worked at Babies Hospital and then got married after Thanksgiving in 1965. After 53 years of marriage we have seven grandchildren and three married daughters. We joined MercyShips International twenty years ago this June, and have served in the West African countries of The Gambia, Benin, Togo, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. Most recently we have served in China for the building of a second hospital ship to serve developing West African nations. The King’s College grounded me spiritually and I especially remember Dr. Ryther and Ms. Nocera, my guidance counselor.”

Phillip W. Meringola (’71) writes, “Very nice to read that The King’s College remains committed to the founder’s vision: sharing the gospel of Christ, and educating students to do so. Prior to attending TKC, I was born on Long Island, drafted into the army, graduated King’s (B.S. Business/Economics), went to Stony Brook (M.S. Healthcare Administration), worked in the federal government and private sector (moved numerous times), and am now living in Colorado Springs. Considering the ups and downs over the years, by the grace of God, I am still standing. I have a wife and a fine son who is married with three sprouts. I would love to visit the college someday.”

Lance Mitchell (NBC ’73) passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Monday, January 21. His funeral service will be held on February 10, 2019, at the Scarborough Free Baptist Church, in Scarborough, Maine. Visiting hour: 2:00-3:00 p.m. with a 3:00 p.m. service to follow.

Karen (Broeker) Nelson (’86) recently moved to Virginia from Port Republic, N.J. as her husband secured a position at Liberty University. She writes, “We have five children of which there will be four in attendance at Liberty come fall of 2019. Our fifth child is in the seventh grade. I resigned from my position as a teacher for the NYC Department of Education last fall. Looking forward to what the Lord has for me next!”
