The NEOS initiative at The King’s College equips students with analytical and digital skills that expand their range of capabilities after graduation at the intersections of technology, enterprise, culture and creativity.

How to Build Your Startup brings these elements together for the King’s community in an exciting competition of ideas and teamwork as participants build their skills for future success. Learn how to identify potential customers and communicate your great tech-enabled business idea to them using free or low-cost online tools, visual design and web development concepts.

Here’s how it works:

LAUNCH NIGHT: Come with a vision or problem and network with your fellow classmates to create a business idea. Teams will form around the best ideas.

  • FREE | Wednesday, January 18, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM, City Room | School-wide gathering. Pizza will be served.

WORKSHOPS: Guided by expert instructors, each team then works over three Saturdays to develop skills in conceiving a startup business plan, using data for determining markets, exploring visual communication and design concepts for branding, and building a basic web page for the business. Registration for workshops is $100 per student.

  • Saturday, January 28, 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Classroom 626: Business Plan + Intro to Visual Communication & Branding

  • FREE | Monday, February 13, 12:00 PM – 1:20 PM, City Room: Presentations | School-wide gathering. Pizza will be served.

The winning team will get to enjoy dinner with Rifle Paper Co. founders, Nathan and Anna Bond. The team can ask questions and gain practical advice from the industry leader.
