NEW YORK CITY – November 6, 2015 – The King’s College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Matthew Sherwood as a Fellow in Business and Finance. In his capacity as a Fellow, Sherwood will make presentations in classes, lead workshops, and mentor students in the area of investments and finance, extending the work of the College’s program in Business and Finance.

Sherwood is an accomplished investment professional with a strong track record of success. He began his asset management career at Morgan Stanley, where he managed investments in the Private Wealth Management business unit. Sherwood left Morgan Stanley for a full discretion Portfolio Manager position at Access Global Partners, where he was responsible for allocating capital across all asset classes. Sherwood moved into a Senior Portfolio Manager role at The Schonfeld Group, before obtaining the Senior Investment Manager position at Ivy Strategy, where he led external allocation due diligence, investment research, and asset allocation modeling. Prior to joining MMBB Financial Services in January 2015, Sherwood served as the Chief Investment Officer at Wayne Capital Management.

Sherwood graduated summa cum laude from the Honors Program at Liberty University in an accelerated three years. He went on to obtain his M.B.A. studying Finance and Economics, and graduated with honors. Sherwood has studied business quantitative methods and economic theory on the doctoral level, and earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Northcentral University. Sherwood is a published author and a recognized expert in the field of investment management and investment research. In 2014 Dr. Sherwood was retained as an Expert Witness in a multi-billion dollar litigation case for his expertise in finance, economics, and equity valuation.

“I take great pride in the appointment to the Business and Finance department at The King’s College, as I am eager to be an asset to the amazing platform that The King’s College provides—a platform that trains exceptional Christ-centered students to become business leaders and industry experts,” said Sherwood. “When I was provided with the opportunity to educate students at King’s as a subject matter expert and practitioner, I was thrilled. The College, which is about a minute walk from Wall Street, is passionate about not only teaching students academic theory and research, but also the real-world practice of such concepts. I am excited to share with students what I have learned through my many years in investments and asset management.”

Sherwood continued, “I look forward to lecturing in my areas of expertise because it not only allows me to be a resource to some of the brightest students in the country, but it also gives me an opportunity to teach to students who are grounded in a foundation of the teaching of Jesus Christ. As a Christian, I believe such principles empower business and finance leaders to conduct themselves at an ethical standard that is so important in today’s business marketplace.”

“We are pleased to have Dr. Sherwood partnering with our faculty and students to share his perspective on professional excellence and faithful presence in the financial marketplace,” said Brian Brenberg, Chair of the Program in Business and Finance.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Sherwood to our business and finance faculty at The King’s College,” said Dr. Mark Hijleh, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. “His expertise and experience as a Christian in the world of financial management here in New York City will provide much additional value to our students as they build their knowledge and explore their vocational and career options here.”
