The King’s College is pleased to welcome Tim Gibson as Executive Vice President and Director of the Center for Leadership Development. Gibson brings his considerable experience in the U.S. military to his new role, in which he will oversee leadership programming and the creation of a leadership institute while working with Kevin Brown, Senior Vice President for Advancement at King’s, to ensure the effective management of the College.

“Any elite institution in the country would be thrilled to have a retired brigadier general in their ranks let alone someone of the stature and conviction of Tim Gibson,” said Dr. Gregory Alan Thornbury, President of The King’s College. “I look forward to his joining my administration as he brings unique resources to bear in the developing of leadership skills for the coming generation of students at The King’s College. “

Brigadier General Gibson has spent his career in the United States Air Force. He is currently Vice Commander of the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, which is the Air Force’s Center of Excellence for advanced expeditionary combat support training and education, and also provides direct oversight for en route and installation support, contingency response, and partner capacity building mission sets within the global mobility enterprise. Gibson received his commission through the Air Force Academy in 1988 and subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Management from Colorado Christian University and a Master’s degree in Airpower Art and Science from the School of Advanced Airpower Studies at Maxwell Air Force Base. In 2007, he was a National Security Fellow at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He has served as an instructor pilot for the T-37 Tweet, C-5 Galaxy, TG-7A motorglider and KC-135 Stratotanker.

Gibson’s command assignments include the 621st Air Mobility Operations Squadron at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, the 71st Mission Support Group at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma, and the 10th Air Base Wing, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. General Gibson’s staff assignments include Aide-de-Camp to the Academy Superintendent, Director of the Commander’s Action Group for Air Combat Command and Senior Executive Assistant to the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s logistics director. Prior to his current assignment, he served as Director for Joint Integration, Directorate of Operational Capability Requirements, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force. General Gibson is a command pilot with more than 2,600 hours in the T-37, T-38, C-5, TG-7 and KC-135.

Gibson and his wife, Nancy, are members of the Parents Advisory Council at King’s. The Gibsons have three children: Jessica graduated from King’s in May with a B.A. in Media, Culture, and the Arts, and will begin studying in the Film M.F.A. Program in Creative Producing at Columbia University this fall; Drew is a sophomore at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs; and Mary Beth, who is homeschooled, will relocate with Tim and Nancy to New York City.

“I’m truly excited to join the team at The King’s College,” said Gibson. “The school’s goal of developing principled leaders is extremely compelling and serving alongside the faculty and staff in New York City is something I very much look forward to.”
