The King’s College is pleased to welcome The London Center for Policy Research to campus.

The London Center for Policy Research was founded by Herb London, who is also a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, former president of the Hudson Institute and a noted and widely-published critic. Dr. London is a professor emeritus and former John M. Olin Professor of Humanities at New York University, where he founded the Gallatin School of Individualized Study in 1972 and was its dean until 1992. The school was organized to promote the study of “great books” and classic texts. London is a 1960 graduate of Columbia University and received his Ph.D. from New York University in 1966. He is a noted commentator and has been published in nearly every major print publication in the country.

The Center was organized to engage in research on the key policy issues of our time: national security, energy, and risk analysis. Its mission is to challenge conventional wisdom where appropriate, add texture to the current deliberations on policy issues, and build support for positions that further the national interest and the interest of key allies. As part of the move to the King’s campus, the Center has space in the 56 Broadway offices.

On Wednesday, March 4, Dr. London will give a lecture entitled “The Death of the Humanities, A Lamentation” on The King’s College campus, located at 56 Broadway in downtown Manhattan. The lecture will take place at noon in the City Room. Attendees should RSVP via Eventbrite.

“I admire the orientation at The King’s College and the leadership,” said London. “The London Center represents a nonpartisan, clear-eyed view of foreign policy driven by national interest and tradition. A traditional approach to national security is consistent with The King’s College’s belief that Western Civilization is the foundation for scholarly pursuits.”

“It is a high honor for The King’s College to welcome The London Center for Policy Research to our campus,” said Dr. Gregory Alan Thornbury, president of The King’s College. “Herb London’s experience in politics, foreign affairs, and higher education promise to add a rich, new dimension to our community. Here is a leading scholar and public policy expert who is regularly in conversation with world leaders and national political figures. What an amazing resource Herb will be to our faculty, students, and staff.”
