After a decade of service as both Chairman of the Board and Acting President on three separate occasions, Andrew G. Mills will rotate off of The King’s College Board of Trustees and will be appointed Senior Fellow of the College, according to President Greg Thornbury.

When asked about the transition, Thornbury said, “The positive impact and effect of Andy Mills’s leadership at King’s is incalculable. I cannot think of anyone who loves the College as much as he does or has been more dedicated to its success. His commitment defines what it means to be a sacrificial servant. At crucial moments in our history, he stepped in to help the College through difficult days and to keep the College true to its mission. He is a hero.”

Mills will be eligible to return to the board after one year.

After being recognized for his service at the College’s commencement exercises on May 10, Mills will begin serving immediately as Senior Fellow of The King’s College, alongside recent appointees Eric Metaxas and Presidential Scholar Dr. Daniel Siedell.  Regarding the appointment, Thornbury commented, “It’s impossible to think of King’s without Andy Mills as a central part of the community. His appointment as Senior Fellow will dovetail nicely with his interest in the Theology of Work project and his international presence as an ambassador and spokesman for the College.”

With respect to the transition and new appointment, Mills said, “The establishment of The King’s College has been one of the great joys of my life. I remain wholeheartedly committed to its success and look forward to my role as Senior Fellow. I am confident in the leadership of the school and I’m excited to see what God has in store for King’s.”

Mr. Mills is the former CEO of the Thomson Financial and Professional Publishing unit of the Thomson Corporation, where he was also a member of the Board. Andy was responsible for all of Thomson’s financial, legal and tax businesses, a large grouping of industry leading businesses including First Call (which he co-founded) and West Publishing. Under his leadership, the revenue for the group grew to exceed $3.5 billion generated by over 20,000 people worldwide.

In addition to being on the board of Verisk Analytics Inc., Mills devotes most of his time to Christian ministry, as a missionary from Hope Christian Church in Winchester, MA, Co-Chairman of the Theology of Work Project and a Board Member of the Salvation Army for Massachusetts and Camp-Of-The-Woods in upstate New York. He is a regular traveler to Africa where he is involved in economic development activities in the West Nile region of Uganda with Mango Fund.

This week, he was also appointed co-chair of The Grace and Mercy Foundation, based in New York City.

Mills lives in Winchester, MA with his wife Gail of 31 years. They have two children: Victoria and Christopher. In addition, Andy and Gail are active foster parents.

In a board vote taken on April 30, Wm. Lee Hanley, Jr. was elected as the next Chairman of the Board of The King’s College.
