All students are required to bring a laptop (PC or Mac) to King’s.
What software does King’s expect me to use?
King’s uses Microsoft Office and Google Drive (as well as Docs, Sheets and Slides). Students are advised to use Microsoft Office and will obtain a free copy of Office 2013 for PC and Office 2011 for Mac to use during the length of their enrollment from the IT Department.
What kind of Internet access will I have?
On campus, King’s provides a wireless network for all students, and every student residence building has wireless Internet access through a separate network.
When do I find out my email address?
You should receive an email from the College around mid-summer. If you have questions, contact us.
Can I check my email from anywhere?
Yes. You can always check your King’s email at http://mail.tkc.edu logging in with your username (for new students this is typically in the format firstname.lastname) and the password sent to your personal email address. If you have Outlook for PC installed on your laptop, you can set up Outlook to interface with your mail using Google Sync.
Can I check my email from my cell phone?
Most cell phones will connect easily with Gmail using the information here.
What if I forget my username or password?
You should first try https://changemypassword.tkc.edu/ or contact us at extension x. 3140 or email HelpDesk@tkc.edu. Please note that parents may not request a password reset on behalf of a student due to FERPA restrictions. Students who are unable to use the ChangeMyPassword website will need to validate their identity before a member of the IT staff can reset their password via the phone.
What technical resources are on campus?
We provide wireless Internet access, a Computer Lab, located in the Library, and printers for student use in the Library.
How do I contact the TKC IT Department?
To contact the IT Department please email HelpDesk@tkc.edu or call extension x. 3140.
Who do I contact if my access card does not work?
If you are having trouble with your access card, please stop by Student Services for help. They will assist in contacting our Facilities team to have your card access fixed.
