Whether the semester has gone exactly as planned for you or not, there are certain highlights and lowlights we’ve faced throughout the past three months of school. Along with these highlights comes successes. Consequently, the lowlights are likely attached to feelings of failure. Nevertheless, congratulations for making it through the half-way point.

At this point, it is the perfect time to reflect upon those feelings of triumph and defeat to set yourself up for a wonderful rest-of-the-semester. After all, personal reflection brings self-awareness and a good grip on where your mental, physical, and spiritual health lies. There’s time to keep enjoying and growing in our learning experience at King’s.

In my own journals, these are the questions that have pushed me to look inward to better understand myself going forward into the rest of the Fall.

  • What has helped me achieve my successes this semester? How did these practices, habits, and rituals influence my life in a positive or negative way?
  • What or whom have I been placing as my first priority?
  • Who has been pivotal in my growth and development this semester? Have I been beneficial to them?
  • Have my resources on campus been beneficial in my successes and my hardships?

As we’ve mentioned in our last Mid-Semester Reflection article, try to answer these honestly and specifically. Take the opportunity to reflect upon these questions with a roommate, a friend, or your House Scholar too! Surely, they will celebrate with you and give insight as to where you have the opportunity to grow.
