War in Ukraine

Since February 24, Americans have watched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine playing out live across our TVs, social media channels, and radios. How can we make sense of what’s happening?

On March 23, The King’s College will bring together experts in various facets of the current crisis to help explain events in Ukraine. What motivates Russians and Ukrainians? What are the consequences of the conflict for American foreign policy? 

Speakers:
Dr. Anton Fedyashin, Associate Professor of History at American University.
Professor Fedyashin is a specialist in Russian and European history. His courses, conference papers, and publications cover the entire modern period from the imperial to the post-Soviet era.

Dr. Joseph Loconte, Senior Fellow of Christianity and Culture at The King’s College; Director of the B. Kenneth Simon Center for American Studies, the Heritage Foundation. Joe Loconte is the author of The New York Times best-seller, A Hobbit, a Wardrobe, and a Great War.

Dr. David Tubbs, David Tubbs is Associate Professor of Politics at The King’s College, where he has taught since 2005. He earned his Ph.D. at Princeton University. He has worked, lectured, and traveled extensively in both Ukraine and Russia, and before he began teaching at King’s, he was Visiting Faculty Fellow at Irkutsk State University in Irkutsk, Russia.

Dr. Robert Carle, Professor of Theology at The King’s College, moderator. Dr. Carle has written for The Wall Street Journal, The American Interest, Religion Unplugged, Newsday, Society, Human Rights Review, The Public Discourse, Academic Questions, and Reason.
