Richard M. DeVos
Tenure at King's: 2013 to Present
Dr. Richard (Rich) M. DeVos is the Co-Founder and Former President of Amway Corp. and Chairman of the Orlando Magic.
In 1959, he founded Amway Corporation with Mr. Van Andel. Amway is one of the world’s largest direct selling businesses. It offers consumer products and business opportunities in more than 80 countries and territories worldwide. Alticor, the parent company of Amway, provides product development, manufacturing and logistics services through its Access Business Group and Alticor Corporate Enterprises divisions. In its most recent fiscal year, Alticor reported annual sales of $10.9 billion. A renowned speaker, Rich DeVos has appeared before hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.
His recorded talk, “Selling America,” received the Alexander Hamilton Award for Economic Education from the Freedom’s Foundation. He has written four books: BELIEVE!, Compassionate Capitalism, Hope From My Heart: Ten Lessons for Life, and most recently Ten Powerful Phrases for Positive People.
Dr. DeVos has devoted himself to many civic organizations including the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, DeVos Sport Business Management Program at the University of Central Florida, Foundation for the Advancement of Cardiac Therapies (FACT), Gerald R. Ford Foundation, Grand Rapids Economic Club, National Constitution Center, Northwood University, Scripps Florida Council, Spectrum Health and the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). Dr. DeVos has also received countless awards including the following in the past decade: Lifetime Achievement Award, Direct Selling Assoc., 2012; Hillman Award, Alliance for Health, 2012; Clare Boothe Luce Award, The Heritage Foundation, 2010; Norman Vincent Peale Award for Positive Thinking, 2007; Trustee’s Award for Distinguished Service, Intercollegiate Studies Institute, 2007;William E. Simon Prize in Philanthropic Leadership, 2006; Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars Corporate Citizenship Award, 2006; American Red Cross, Circle of Humanitarian Award, 2005. Dr. & Mrs. DeVos have four children, sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
