Susie is a lifelong advocate of Christian higher education and has a long track record of supporting organizations that promote cultural engagement and Christian values. She grew up in Overland Park, Kan., and met her husband Jerry while they were both students at Texas Tech University. Susie earned a bachelor and a master of music from Texas Tech, and went on to earn a doctorate in choral conducting from the University of North Texas. She worked as a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas from 1998 to 2000, and served as the director of music and art at Hillcrest Church in Dallas from 2000 to 2005.

Susie has received multiple professional honors in her career as a musician and conductor, including serving as the worship leader for women’s events for the National Day of Prayer from 2010 to 2017. She currently serves on the board for multiple organizations, including the Dallas Symphony Association and the Museum of the Bible Women of Legacy. The Wilsons are also the establishers of the Jerry and Susie Wilson Chair of Religious Freedom at Baylor University, which supports the university’s Institute for Studies of Religion.

Married for over 50 years, Susie and Jerry have three adult children, all married; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with one on the way. They are active members of Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas.
