The King’s College is pleased to announce that Dr. William Barclay Allen will give the Evening Lecture for Interregnum XIII: Equality on Tuesday, April 4 at 7:00PM at 150 West 83rd Street on the Upper West Side. Dr. Allen is a professor of political philosophy at Michigan State University; he has also served one-year stints as a visiting scholar with Villanova University’s Matthew J. Ryan Center for the Study of Free Institutions and the Public Good, as well as Princeton University’s James Madison Program on American Ideals and Institutions.

Beyond academia, Dr. Allen has served on the National Council for the Humanities and on the United States Commission on Civil Rights, both as a member and as chairman. His expertise includes the American founding and Constitution, the founding fathers (especially Washington), liberal arts education, and the relationship between race and politics.

Megan Ristine ’17, Interregnum Chair, said, “From the beginning, we as a committee were committed to finding the perfect speaker to address the school on equality. We are so proud to welcome Dr. William B. Allen to The King’s College, and to Interregnum specifically. His years studying American history and his time serving the United States Commission on Civil Rights brings together a unique perspective on the equality discussion in our country today.”

Dr. Matthew Parks, Assistant Professor of Politics and faculty advisor for Interregnum, said, “Dr. Allen has produced a remarkable body of academic work on George Washington, The Federalist, and Harriet Beecher Stowe while being involved at both the national and state levels in important debates in the public square surrounding the issue of equality, making him an ideal keynote speaker for this year’s Interregnum.”

Alumni, parents, and friends of the College are warmly invited to attend the lecture.
