Dr. Edward Albert “Al” McCallister ’53 entered the presence of his Savior at 3:25 am on December 8th, exactly two months after his 85th birthday. He and his wife, Della Fearing McCallister (’52) both attended King’s in New Castle, DE under Dr. Crawford. They were reunited at a TKC reunion several years after graduating; he told this story every Thanksgiving and Christmas, tearfully expressing his thankfulness to God for bringing her back into his life. He received his doctorate in philosophy from University of GA and was a professor at Columbia International University for over 32 years, chairing the Humanities Department, leading countless study tours to Europe and teaching philosophy, theology and Bible. His students, who are serving the kingdom worldwide, still affectionately refer to him as one of their favorite and most beloved teachers. His memorial celebration service and visitation was held on December 17th at Faith Presbyterian Church in Irmo, South Carolina. The family asks that any gifts in his honor be sent to Faith Presbyterian Church, where Dr. McCallister served four times as interim pastor–1811 Dutch Fork Road, Irmo, SC 29063–or Columbia International University, where he taught–PO Box 3122, Columbia, SC, 29230.
