The King’s College both regrets to say goodbye to Athletic Director Sean Horan, and is pleased to announce the appointment of Bryan Finley as the College’s new Athletic Director and Tom Harman as Assistant Athletic Director.

Mr. Horan joined The King’s College in November 2009 through his acquaintance with former President Stan Oakes and New York City ministry veteran B. J. Weber, coming from Columbia University. He built the College’s athletic program from scratch against incredible odds. Eric Bennett, Vice President for Student Development, said, “Today the program boasts three industry standard affiliations, a thriving Student Athlete Advisory Council, various ongoing fundraising initiatives, and over 80 student athletes participating in nine men’s and women’s sports annually. We owe Sean a debt of gratitude for helping our students develop a ‘muscular Christianity,’ as President Thornbury would say. Sean has been a consummate athletic director and my good friend.”

Mr. Horan concluded his time at King’s on December 19. After thirteen years in the United States, he and his wife Renae moved to Australia to be closer to her family.

Mr. Finley has served as the College’s Assistant Athletic Director since 2012 and is well-equipped to expand the athletic program at King’s and continue to build on its quality. Bennett said, “In addition to his work over the last four years at King’s, Bryan works as the Assistant to the Vice President of Business Development at Sky Blue, selling tickets, running youth soccer clinics, and creating alliances with local businesses. He is also the founder and president of Crossbar Soccer, a nonprofit company that hosts youth soccer tournaments. And most importantly, Bryan has years of experience as a coach. For instance, Bryan currently works with the Players Development Academy, the number one girls’ club soccer program in America, was the Associate Head Coach at Saint Peter’s University, Assistant Coach at New Jersey City University, Coach at Oak Knoll High School in NJ, and Program Director at U. S. PARMA Premier Soccer Club, to name a few. In short, Bryan is the guy to lead our athletic program into the future.”

Tom Harman, who has been The King’s College Head Coach for soccer since 2014, will come on full time as Assistant Athletic Director to aid Mr. Finley. Mr. Harman hails originally from the United Kingdom and has coaching experience from around the world, including the UK, South Korea, and Canada. Bennett said, “Tom is a world-class professional and I’m glad to have him join our team.”

Mr. Finley said of his new position, “It is extremely bittersweet to take on the role of Athletic Director here at King’s. Sean and I have been best friends for almost 25 years, and I am going to miss him and his wonderful family. At the same time I am honored, humbled, and grateful to take on this position. Tom Harman and I, as well as our amazing coaching staff, are excited to take the program Sean has left us and hopefully make it even better. It is an honor working with the students, faculty and staff at this college, and we’re excited about taking Athletics onward and upward.”
