On October 19, at The King’s College fall board meeting, the Board welcomed a new member. David L. Bahnsen has vast experience in financial directing and wealth management, and is a frequent guest on CNBC, Fox Business, and Bloomberg. In addition, David is a prolific writer whose subject matter ranges from business and finance to Christian apologetics. He counts among his heroes his late father, Dr. Greg Bahnsen, a leading Christian apologist of the twentieth century, who in 1985 famously debated atheist Gordon Stein on the existence of God.

Currently David serves as the founder, managing director, and chief investment officer of The Bahnsen Group, a private wealth management boutique based in Newport Beach, California. The Group manages over a billion dollars in client assets. He is a noted leader in the wealth management world, having been named as one of Barron’s America’s Top 1,200 Advisors, as well as On Wall Street’s Top 40 Advisors Under 40 and Financial Times Top 300 Advisors in America. Before starting The Bahnsen Group, he spent eight years working as a Chairman’s Club Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and seven years as a First Vice President at UBS Financial Services.

Besides his work in the financial sector, David is deeply interested in preserving and promoting a respect for freedom principles, integrated with transcendent truths. He greatly admires Milton Friedman and Ronald Reagan, and works to preserve their legacy in American thought and culture. To this end, David serves on the Board of Directors for the National Review Institute. He is also the vice president of the Lincoln Club of Orange County. He has a track record of seeking to serve the sphere of Christian education, as he is a founding trustee for Pacifica Christian High School of Orange County.

President Gregory Alan Thornbury said of Bahnsen’s appointment, “I am absolutely thrilled to welcome David Bahnsen to the Board of Trustees of The King’s College. David’s whole life is a testament to his commitment to the King’s mission: to transform society and lead strategic institutions, through God’s grace. I look forward to his contributions to the College through this position on the Board.”

David looks forward to working more closely with The King’s College, as many of his heroes are studied in King’s classes, including F.A. Hayek, C.S. Lewis, and John Calvin. David also cites three of the House namesakes—Lewis, Winston Churchill, and Margaret Thatcher—as individuals whose lives and writings have significantly influenced his thinking.

David resides in Newport Beach, California with his wife Joleen and three children.
