Due to the generosity of Steve and Jackie Green of the Museum of the Bible and the Philos Project, 40 students and 5 faculty or staff members from The King’s College will be able to visit Israel this summer on a subsidized trip.

The trip will be led by Dr. Dru Johnson, Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at King’s and Dr. Kimberly Thornbury, First Lady and Vice President at the College. Much of the in-country engagement will be led by staff of the Philos Project, with the goal of exposing Christian college students to the biblical narrative in the land of Israel (including museums, archaeological tours, traversing the geography of biblical Israel, and more), as well as the modern challenges facing Israelis and Palestinians.

From May 21 to June 1, students, faculty, and staff will travel together. The involvement of the Greens and the Philos Project means that students will pay $500 for the entire trip, including travel, lodging, and expenses.  Participating King’s students may also choose to pair the trip with a three-credit class over the summer semester.

“Historically, Christians have always wanted to go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land—which is a wonderful thing to do,” said Dr. Gregory Alan Thornbury, President of The King’s College. “But I am likewise excited for this generation of King’s students to learn about modern day Israel too—the startup nation of economic growth and innovation. Through this incredibly generous gift, our students will understand both aspects as a part of their comprehensive understanding of how their faith intersects with the land of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Jesus Christ.”
