Interregnum XII Results

One of the most anticipated events at The King’s College is Interregnum, a three-day, all-campus period of intense competition and celebration. Classes are suspended while Houses take part in speech competitions, parliamentary-style debates, and challenges in both the visual and performing arts and in creative and academic writing—all judged by members of the faculty and staff.

Interregnum XII took place April 6-8, 2016. This year’s theme was “Ambition.” On the evening of April 5, the campus community gathered at W83 on Manhattan’s Upper West Side to hear author and social critic Dr. Os Guinness lecture on the topic to kick off the event. The competitions began the following morning with the preliminary debate rounds.

After three days of hard work and fierce rivalry—and a lot of fun and friendship along the way—students, faculty, and staff gathered at Calvary-St. George’s Episcopal Church to hear the results of the competition and the final Parliamentary Debate between The House of Winston Churchill and The House of Margaret Thatcher. The House of Margaret Thatcher took home the overall honors for the competition, with the House of C.S. Lewis in second place and the House of Clara Barton in third. The House Cup—which includes results from competitions earlier in the year as well—was awarded to the House of Clara Barton, with the House of Corrie ten Boom taking second and the House of Dietrich Bonhoeffer in third.
