The King’s College warmly congratulates Grayson Logue ’18 on receiving the Richard and Helen DeVos Freedom Center Leadership Award, presented by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI).

The DeVos Award is presented by ISI to undergraduates who have inspired members of their campus communities. Logue received the award at the annual ISI gala, held on October 27 in New York City. The award is presented in honor of longtime ISI friend Rich DeVos, co-founder of Amway and owner of the Orlando Magic NBA franchise. DeVos’s philanthropy has underwritten the membership and recruiting efforts of ISI through the DeVos Freedom Center. Richard and Helen DeVos are also members of The King’s College Board of Trustees and were honored on the same evening as Logue with the Charles H. Hoeflich Lifetime Achievement Award.

Logue, a junior studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE), completed an ISI Collegiate Network internship at the Raleigh News & Observer, where he was able to write nearly two dozen local news stories on subjects that included disabled veterans competing in Paralympic sports and company leaders investing in local education programs. Logue also writes for the ISI-supported student newspaper at King’s, the Empire State Tribune. He is an active member of the ISI Publius Society at King’s and a 2016-2017 ISI Honors Scholar.

Logue called receiving the DeVos Award “an honor and a privilege,” and said,

“In college, students often experience a tension between exploring new interests and preparing for a specific career. King’s has eased this tension by connecting me with resources like ISI and internship opportunities that allow me both to explore new interests and gain valuable connections and insight on what I want to do professionally. To me, the award is a reflection of the investment that both ISI and King’s have made in me, and I hope I can continue to live up to that investment.”

Logue is the second King’s student in two years to receive this award from ISI. Alexandra Nykamp ’16 was the 2015 recipient.

The Intercollegiate Studies Institute, founded by journalist Frank Chodorov, William F. Buckley, and other early conservative and libertarian intellectuals in 1953, seeks to revive the American ideals of individual freedom and personal responsibility by developing principled leaders in all corners of American society, including higher education, public service, the media, and business and finance.

For more than 75 years, The King’s College has educated young leaders to integrate their faith, ethics, and morality seamlessly into their lives and careers. The only traditional Christian liberal arts college or university located in the heart of New York City, King’s prepares students for principled leadership around the world.
