It is with great sadness that The King’s College announces the passing of long-time Board of Trustee Member Steve Douglass on October 29 at the age of 78 due to complications from cancer. Steve was the President Emeritus of Cru/Campus Crusade for Christ and served as a member of the King’s Board of Trustees from 2001 to the time of his death.

John Beckett, Trustee Emeritus of the Board of Trustees, shared this about Steve:

“As a fellow board member, Steve was exceptional in his contribution. I observed with admiration how he engaged his leadership responsibilities. He was continuously focused on the mission; mindful of our heritage; fully present; thinking outside the box; joyful; incisive yet winsome in his comments and interactions and buoyant in his faith that God was guiding our discussions and would provide for the needs of the College. It was one of my greatest privileges to serve alongside our dear brother. Without him, the college would be a mere shadow of what it is today.”

This is a great loss for the King’s Board of Trustees and we will deeply miss Steve’s leadership, wisdom, and passion for Christ. Yet we rejoice because, despite our sadness, we know that Steve is now with his Savior in heaven. You can read tributes to Steve’s life through Cru and The Gospel Coalition.

Please keep Steve’s wife Judy, the Douglass family, and the Cru community in your prayers during this difficult time.
