The King’s College is pleased to announce the launch of the Center for Human Flourishing at a public event held on campus on March 6, 2015.

The mission of the Center for the Study of Human Flourishing is to critically examine and promote the moral, social, political, economic, and aesthetic practices that lead to human flourishing and advance the common good. Center activities draw upon cross-disciplinary resources that explore the intersections of moral virtue and public life.

As a cross-disciplinary division of The King’s College, the Center sponsors conferences, panel discussions, seminars, and so on that bring together scholars, practitioners, and students for the purpose of exploring and advancing the contours of human flourishing and civic virtue.

“The Center hopes to serve the city of New York and the nation as a hub for the ideas and practices that lead to human flourishing in every area of life,” said the Center’s director, Dr. Anthony Bradley, who is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at King’s. “Drawing from past and present theorists and practitioners, the Center will highlight those who are adding value the marketplace for the purpose of enhancing human life, especially those who are graduates of The King’s College.”

At the March 6 event, the Center will present the New York City premiere of the Acton Institute film series For the Life of the World. Guests will include the film’s lead writer Stephen Grabill, director and producer Eric Johnson, and actor Dwight Gibson. For the Life of the World creatively explores life’s bigger-picture questions to explore a compelling vision for integrating faith and culture.

The Center extends a special invitation to alumni and students of The King’s College to participate in the launch event. The reception begins at 5:30pm at the College’s campus, located at 56 Broadway in lower Manhattan, and will include hors d’oeuvres and drinks. The screening will begin at 7:00pm. Tickets are free, but must be reserved via Eventbrite.

Alumni of The King’s College are invited to a post-event after party at the Irish American, located at 17 John Street. RSVPs are required.
