NEW YORK CITY- July 22, 2015- The King’s College announces the launch of the Oikonomia Scholarship, to be awarded to three winners of a contest for students entering King’s during the Fall 2015 semester. The three finalists will receive $10,000, $5,000, and $2,500, respectively. In cooperation with the Acton Institute, The King’s College is awarding three scholarships to students who embody the combination of theological understanding and cultural engagement that the College values.

Students will compete by writing a 1,000 word response essay after watching the For the Life of the World (FLOW) series, a seven-part documentary series that explores God’s plan for His creation, the purpose of salvation, and what it means to “strangers and pilgrims” living in the “already but not yet.” Eligible applicants will submit their essays, along with letters of recommendation from advocates, by Sunday, July 26th, 2015, for a chance at the scholarship.

Winners will be announced on Friday, July 31st, and will be named Oikonomia Scholars for the 2015-2016 school year.

“The Oikonomia scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for entering students and their families to get a sense of how The King’s College prepares students to orient their lives toward being a blessing to the world,” explains Dr. Anthony Bradley, Chair of the Program in Religious and Theological Studies and Associate Professor of Religious Studies. “Oikonomia scholars are inducted into a national network of like-minded men and women who seek to use their gifts and interests to make the world a better place.”

The top submission will receive a $10,000 scholarship to attend The King’s College, with second and third places receiving $5,000 and $2,500 scholarships respectively. “This scholarship is the beginning of helping students discover where in society they can make a significant contribution to human flourishing,” explains Dr. Bradley.
