We’re called to loyal opposition,” said Juliette Kheyfets (Finance ’22) in her introduction to the November 20, 2020 panel discussion.

The event, titled, “A Loyal Opposition: Civility During Election Season,” featured Dr. Anthony Bradley, Prof. Alissa Wilkinson, and Dr. Dru Johnson as panelists and Dr. David Tubbs as moderator. Tubbs also shared prepared written responses from Dr. David Innes, who was scheduled to present as a panelist but was unable to attend the event. Discussion ranged from the role of friendship in preparing us to engage in political life, to the nonviolent resistance of the Civil Rights movement, to the importance of intellectual humility and a desire for the others’ good in any disagreement.
