On Wednesday, May 4th, The King’s College was pleased to welcome two-time Grammy winning hip-hop artist Lecrae in celebration of his new book, Unashamed. President Thornbury hosted a small, invitation-only reception with a select group of NYC thought leaders to engage in an open dialogue over the prolific rapper’s autobiography.

Lecrae’s book divulges many sensitive details of his life, including intimate handwritten journal entries, answers to his critics, and also powerfully models how to follow Christ in a secular age.

In their discussion, Lecrae and President Thornbury cover such topics as the complexities of the relationship between Christianity and the arts, the role of the believer in the face of mounting racial tension, and Lecrae’s personal struggles as an artist both outside the church and within it.
