The Center for the Study of Christianity and the Black Experience (CSCBE) seeks to increase our knowledge of Black Christian communities’ influence on the faith around the globe, with critical attention to the ancient, modern, and future roles of the Black Church, and its contributions to worldwide Christianity, including the civic dimensions of its work, through teaching, research, scholarly writing, and public engagement.

Dr. David Tubbs

Dr. David Tubbs serves as an Associate Professor of Politics at The King’s College, while also serving as the Director of the Center for Christianity and the Study of the Black Experience. Dr. Tubbs earned his PhD. in politics at Princeton University, concentrating in political philosophy, constitutional law, and Russian studies.

Senior Fellow

Dr. Jacqueline Rivers

Dr. Jacqueline Rivers is a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Christianity and the Black Experience. She is also the Executive Director and Senior Fellow for Social Science and Policy of the Seymour Institute for Black Church and Policy Studies. Dr. Rivers has served as a lecturer in both Sociology and African American Studies at Harvard University.
