Liturgy: Walls of Water

Is there something new God is calling you to or something enslaving you that He is calling you to leave behind?

The King’s Liturgy defines our experience together as a Christian community. It outlines the rhythms we celebrate with the Church at large: Scripture readings, Sabbath habits, and celebration of Holy Days and historical events.

This week’s Scripture readings:

Isaiah 43:16-21
Psalm 126
John 12:1-8
Philippians 3:4b-14

This week’s reflection was contributed by Anna Peters, Director of Financial Aid:

“Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.”

Does it ever amaze you that words written thousands of years ago about situations that happened thousands of years ago can have such a profound affect in your life today?  That is how I feel about Isaiah 43:16-21.

The Israelites had been enslaved for over 400 years and God was showing them a way out but the way out was through enormous walls of water and an army of Egyptians chasing them. Try to imagine how they felt stepping between those walls of water.  How did they know they wouldn’t come crashing down at any moment?  They didn’t, but they knew and trusted their God so they walked through in faith and came out the other side.  (BTW – the Egyptians didn’t make it).

Is there something new God is calling you to or something enslaving you that He is calling you to leave behind?  Do you have the faith to step between the walls of water and see what new thing God has for you?
