Few people realize that among 182 American cities with populations of more than 100,000, the FBI ranked criminality in New York as low as 136 – or the same level as Boise, Idaho. Despite having a population of more than 8 million people, violent crimes dropped by two thirds in the last decade and the FBI reports that murder rates are the lowest since 1967. In fact, New York City consistently ranks in the top ten safest large cities – cities with more than 500,000 people – in the United States.

The King’s College Security Data
The King’s College seeks to protect students by keeping them informed concerning offenses and violations that happen on campus and in the surrounding neighborhood.
The Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act was signed in November 1990. The act requires higher-education institutions that participate in Title IV student assistance programs to provide information on campus crime statistics in an Annual Safety and Security Report.
This report includes statistics for the previous year concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by The King’s College; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning sexual assault, and other matters. Registered Sex Offenders Database
In accordance with the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act of 2000 and the Jeanne Clery Act, The King’s College provides a link to the New York State Sex Offender Registry. The Clery Act requires institutions to advise students where law enforcement agency information provided by a state concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained.
