On a Sunday morning earlier this year, I shuffled up the center aisle of my church toward the communion table. Next Sunday at church, I’ll take the full portion of what I need at the communion table.
King’s Debate Society Competes at Yale
Three teams from the King’s Debate Society competed at Yale University from November 4-6, arguing tough topics including the creation of an independent Kurdish state, whether religious leaders should publically endorse political candidates and policies, and if governments should nationalize credit ratings agencies.

In this world we face so much brokenness – sickness, weariness, pain, betrayal, death. Jesus came to make all things new. He came to heal the broken and make us whole again.
Homecoming 2016
Saturday’s cruise aboard the Cornucopia Destiny departed from the 14th Street pier in Hoboken, New Jersey around 1:15 p.m. The weather was warm and mild, and alumni from both campuses enjoyed a sumptuous lunch in the ship’s elegant dining room. When lunch was underway, Alumni Association President Chris Ross ’10 opened the program and conferred the first two alumni awards—the J. Stanley Oakes Award on Adam Kail ’08, and the Distinguished Service Award on Lynn Mitchell ’86.

November 2016 History Spotlight: The Swift Rise and Slow Fall of Briarcliff Lodge
When the Tidewater Associated Oil Company bought up the land around King’s in Delaware and persuaded the county to rezone it for industrial development, the College was forced to sell the Lexington mansion and estate where it had spent fourteen years of productive growth. The next step was the famed and beloved Briarcliff Manor.
King’s Hosts Book Release on Wisdom for the Ballot Box
One week before Election Day, The King’s College hosted a book release for The Voting Christian: Seeking Wisdom for the Ballot Box, by Dr. David C. Innes. Innes is Associate Professor of Politics and Chair of the Program in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at King’s. At the event, Innes gave a preview of his book, outlining its structure and content, followed by a faculty panel including himself and Drs. Matthew Parks and David Corbin, his colleagues in the Politics department, who discussed the 2016 election.
Liturgy: “Just Earth”
We all need to know that our stuff is going to break: tablets, hearts, banks, and the earth itself. Life surrounds us with a “glorious ruin” today. Like the earth, our only hope of rescue is God’s intervention in their lives daily—giving us friends, challenging our naïve views of self, proving our confidence in Him through difficult times.
King’s Debate Continues Successful Record at Vermont Tournament
A group of 13 students from the King’s Debate Society spent the weekend in Burlington, Vermont, debating topics ranging from the trade-off between worker protection laws and economic growth, to mandatory paternity leave, to Israeli settlement policies.
King’s Mourns the Passing of Chairman Lee Hanley
“Lee Hanley loved The King’s College deeply and was a fierce champion of all that we hold dear,” said President Gregory Alan Thornbury.
